The 8 Best Vegan Restaurants In Sheffield To Visit ASAP

1. The Treehouse Board Game Café 

The folks down at The Treehouse have created the first board game café in Sheffield and we couldn’t love this concept anymore if we tried.  

This place is not only a great food hub but also a great hangout spot too. You can explore their library of over 800 board games with their friendly staff available to help you with recommendations and the game rules.  

Their games cover charge is £6 per person for a four-hour session or £3 per person for a two-hour session. And get this, they offer a free session for students before 7pm on weekdays! 

In terms of the food and drink, they have a variety of options available on the menu which are sourced from independent suppliers in Sheffield.

Choose from amazing scran like Pulled Jackfruit Bagels, Blackbean & Sweetcorn Chilli as well as their lovely soup of the day. Whilst they’re not a completely vegan and veggie restaurant, they do cater to all dietary needs!  

Their drink options include eight craft beer lines, Frazer’s coffee, Birdhouse teas, wines by Starmore Boss, speciality gin & tonic as well as soft drinks including milkshakes.

2. Make No Bones 

Make No bones are a legendary vegan restaurant in Sheffield which specialises in plant-based comfort food. Locals love it and we’re sure you will too! 

With a 100% vegan menu this place is a dream for plant-based comfort food. With yummy dishes like the Vibrant Satay shrimp fries, Crispy fried vegan chicken wings, Surf and Turf Burger and vegan doner kebabs on the menu we’re sure you’ll be satisfied.

If that wasn’t enough, they also do vegan roast dinners OMG!  

There really is something for everyone and even meat-eaters will LOVE their scran. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it as the saying goes! They have tons of drink options available too like ginger beer, rose lemonade as well as wine, beer, and cocktails from the bar.

3. Blue Moon Café  

The Blue Moon Café has been wowing vegan and veggie eaters since 1995 and has now become one of the most popular of its kind in Sheffield city centre.

They’re right next to the cathedral so its super easy to get to if you want a bite to eat!  

This place is fully vegetarian with tons of wholesome veggie and vegan options available like their Hommity Pie, Imam Bayildi, Tempura Mushrooms and Carrot and Cumin Falafels to name a few (we don’t know about you, but we’re craving this).  

They have tons of soft drinks such as fruit juices and cherry cola as well as speciality teas, coffees and hot chocolate.  

With lovely food, a relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff why not take a visit to the Blue Moon? They’re open Monday-Saturday 10:00am until 4:30pm so you can get some breakfast or lunch whilst doing some shopping in town.

4. Doner Summer  

Doner Summer have changed the game for vegan junk food giving even meat-eaters a whole new perspective to vegan food. They have locations across the North of England, but we’ll be talking about their Sheffield site today, which is in Kelham Island! 

Enjoy 100% vegan food at this casual dining option like their Berlin Doner Kebab, Philly BBQ Burger, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Animal Fries. Their food style is insprised by street food in Berlin, and its just YUM!  

Fancy a few drinks? They have a variety of sodas, cocktails, beers and ciders on offer – whatever floats your boat, or your bevvie!  

Whether you’re looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch or something for dinner, these guys are open from 5-9pm on weekdays and 12-pm on weekends so you’ll have tons of time to get some amazing tasting food and drink!

5. V or V 

V or V is Sheffield’s first fully meat free licensed restaurant which offers fantastic food and drink in a modern and inviting space.  

Their menu is HUGE with a daytime menu, evening menu and a bottomless brunch menu they really offer so much, no matter what your tastebuds are we’re sure you will find something that will please you. From full English breakfasts to oyster mushrooms to pak choi to peacan pie – mmm!  

If you’re keen to get some drinks then they do a wide range of soft drinks and alcoholic drinks like freshly made juices, beer, ciders and tons of refreshing cocktails (they do 2-4-1).  

They’re open Wednesday Sunday early until late, so you can treat yourself and go with some friends for a catch up over plant-based food!

6. Humpit  

Humpit is a Hummus & Pita Bar which has locations across the North and specialises in 100% plant-based food.  

Despite the seating and serving area being quite small, their food makes up for it. They have a middle eastern inspired menu with super flavourful plates like Filled Pitta, Hummus Bowl, Humpit Salad and the Spicy Kebab Filled Pita.

As well as drinks such as their homemade lemonade, Iced hump tea and lemon and ginger hump tea to mention a few.  

It’s certainly student friendly with affordable prices you’ll be sure making this a firm favourite when you come to Sheffield.  

They’re open for lunch Monday-Friday between 11:30am until 3pm. So, if you’re looking for a midweek vegan hotspot in the heart of the city centre then this is the place to go. You have to try it!

7. Dana Café 

Dana Cafe is a cafe and coffeehouse in Sheffield which specialises in veggie and vegan food.  

Their eatery is super warm and welcoming with a great selection of food and drinks. Choose from their Full Vegan Breakfast, bhajis, samosas, sweet corn fritters, homemade sausages or paninis – we’re starving at the thought of these!

They also serve Forge Coffee and a wide selection of high-quality teas.  

It’s for sure a great place to go with friends for a catch-up after uni or to go for a bite to eat after a day of shopping and mooching around. They’re open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday and 9am-4pm Saturday-Sunday.  

Despite being a little far out of the city centre, you’ll find this cute sustainable café in Crookes, which is only a ten-minute bus ride from the central of Sheffield. Go and see what’s what!

8. Church – Temple of Fun 

Church is a 100% vegan bar and restaurant owned by Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon. They’ve recently won the ‘Best Vegan Restaurant’ in the Exposed Awards 2022, so they must be doing something right! 

They offer food choices to keep your taste-buds tingling such as the Nirvana Nachos, Chick’n Tenders, Gouda God burger and Ducked Up loaded fries.

As well as drinks to quench your thirst like craft beers, seasonal cocktails, speciality gins and whisky and soft drinks, hot drinks and mocktails available. Can’t complain really, can you?! 

Located along the riverside, this cool venue is perfectly suited for any vegan or veggie students looking for a place to eat and drink with a great atmosphere.  

Did we mention, they also have a photobooth AND arcade games – we love it!  

They’re open every day of the week from 12pm until late, explore this one for yourselves!
