3. Otterspool Promenade
Situated just a short walk from Festival Gardens is none other than Otterspool Promenade.
This Merseyside favourite is a great place to go for a stroll or a bike ride on a summer’s day, offering stunning views across the River Mersey.
It’s also a noteworthy spot to unroll your picnic blanket and soak up the sun rays, with a parkland area just off from the promenade.

4. Speke Hall

Speke Hall is a Grade I-listed Tudor house situated in the south of the city, with over 400 years of history.

One place in particular worth mooching to for your next picnic is Croxteth Hall and Country Park, or as the scousers like to call it, Crocky Park.
Set in 500 acres of stunning parkland within West Derby, Croxteth Hall and Country Park features woodland, pastures, ponds and streams.
Boasting vast open space, you’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding where to sit for a nice afternoon in the sun.
Entry to the country park is free, but you do have to pay if you want to have a tour around the historic Croxteth Hall.

6. Birkenhead Park
Though technically across the water on the Wirral Peninsula, Birkenhead Park is still part of the Merseyside region and is an absolute gem of a green space.
Did you know, New York’s Central Park was actually based on Birkenhead Park? Amazing right!
That’s not all, Birkenhead Park was the world’s first publicly funded park, opening in 1847 with the intention of creating a ‘park for the people’.
