Hiking

Hiking is an excellent way to stay fit in the summer.

Hiking is known to improve your balance and motor control. It can also increase your endurance and decrease the risk of respiratory issues in the future. It can also reduce stress and improve your mental health!

The best part is that after completing the course, you also get to enjoy the stunning view of your hike that makes the entire process SO worth it!

If you are a beginner, it is best to start with a hike that is less than 5 miles long so you don’t wear yourself out!

There are plenty of hiking routes within the UK for you to choose from. Read this blog on The Complete List Of Hiking Routes For Beginners to help you get started!

Badminton

If you have a buddy who also wants to stay fit in summer, then badminton might just be the right sport for you.

The game in itself is very straightforward, and the only rule you need to know is how to hit the shuttlecock over to your partner.

While this is typical played in indoor courts, you can totally take this game outside and play it in your neighbouring park or beach.

This is not only a great way to stay active but is also a fun way to enjoy the good weather while playing!

Dance Workouts

Dance workouts are an amazing way to stay active while having a lot of fun. Who doesn’t love a good dance session, am I right?

There are plenty of dance workouts that you can easily find on YouTube, each of which is catered to different difficulty levels.

There are also videos that specifically target a body part, so you will be feeling the BURN while enjoying the dance!

The Fitness Marshall is a well-known YouTube channel where the dancers create unique and fun dance routines to the latest hits, all while making sure that you are breaking a sweat!

Healthy Drinks

Along with physical activity, diet is an important factor that contributes towards staying fit and healthy.

Since summer is the ideal time to enjoy tasty and juicy fruits, consider creating a routine of experimenting with various juice blends daily or weekly.

This will not only make for a cool and refreshing drink to enjoy during the warm weather but will also ensure that you are eating healthily.

Walking

As the weather gets better, it is a great opportunity for you to start walking to different places instead of taking the bus or even driving.

You can enjoy the fresh air and it is a great way to get exposed to sunlight which can improve your Vitamin D levels. Always make sure to wear sunscreen, as we don’t want you to damage your skin!

By walking to places, you will not only be staying active consistently but also save a lot of money! You will be surprised to see how quickly this adds up.

Pilates

If you are looking to increase your strength this summer but don’t want to lift weights as usual, then pilates is a great option.

Pilates can improve your muscle strength and improve flexibility. It will also help boost your core strength significantly!

There are two types of pilates; mat pilates and reformer pilates

Mat pilates is the most accessible way to enjoy pilates, as it pretty much requires no investment other than a mat!

Plenty of YouTube channels have detailed videos to help you get the most out of mat pilates at home. Our personal favourite is Move with Nicole who makes videos targeted at different parts of the body.

If you would like to go the extra mile and try out reformer Pilates, there are a lot of studios across the UK where you can sign up for sessions with different levels of difficulty.

You can also purchase a class pass to save you some money!

Swimming

We cannot talk about how to stay fit in the summer without mentioning swimming.

Swimming is an activity that works your WHOLE body!

According to an article by Healthline, it can help tone your muscles, increase endurance, build strength and increase your heart rate without stressing the body.

There are so many other benefits to swimming like improving your sleep, and boosting mood amongst many others.

You can easily enjoy swimming at the nearest beach or your local pool. Most universities have sports and health facilities which likely include a swimming pool that you can use as well!

Be sure to be respectful of the pool rules so you can stay safe!

By incorporating creative and enjoyable activities into your routine, such as outdoor sports, swimming and hiking, you can maintain your physical and mental well-being while making the most of the sunny weather.

Remember to stay hydrated, protect your skin from the sun, and listen to your body’s needs.
