This restaurant is hugely popular amongst locals and students, and we can understand why.

They offer tons of traditional Chinese food from noodles to soup to duck to curry to salt and pepper chicken, you name it, they’ll have it.

Our fave is their Beef with black pepper sauce with a portion of egg fried rice – it’s literally mouth-watering!

If you’re veggie, have a try of their Tofu with garlic chilli sauce. Or, just browse their huuuge menu and see what’s tickling your fancy.

When you don’t feel like cooking up a storm in your student flat, give this place a try by ordering through their website. We’re certain you’re gonna love it as much as us!

Plus, it’s reasonably priced so you don’t have to fork out loads for a nice dinner time treat.

3. Jasper’s Canterbury

If you don’t know about Jasper’s then get to know, this Canterbury takeaway is one of the best places to order from as a student in the city centre.

This place is the home of the buy one get one free pizza deal, yep, you literally choose any pizza and get another free. How good is that?

Whether you fancy a Veggie Supreme Pizza or Hot & Spicy Pizza you can order with a friend and get two for the price of one!

They also offer kebabs, pizzas, wraps, chicken wings, garlic bread and allll the comfort food you could dream of.

Plus, they’re open until 3am through the week so if you’ve just got back from a night out and want some tasty food then this place has you covered.

4. Notorious BRG Canterbury

If you’re searching for the best burgers in Canterbury, then stop right there cos’ Notorious BRG is the place to go.

This independent burger joint in the heart of the city centre offers an extensive menu of signature burgers like their ‘Notorious BRG’ with Locally sourced beef patty, American cheese, pickles, crispy onions, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard.

All the items on their menu except their milkshakes can be made vegan or vegetarian so no matter what you fancy in terms of food you’re sorted!

Our personal fave is their ‘Vegan Mac Daddy’ with Beyond meat vegan patty, Vegan house made mac n cheese, vegan mature cheddar, smokey BBQ sauce, lettuce and tomato.

If a burger isn’t tickling your fancy, why not go for some loaded fries or mac and cheese? You can order through Deliveroo straight to your student flat.

5. Saint Smokey’s BBQ House

Saint Smokey’s BBQ House is a family-run restaurant with a Caribbean twist. It’s voted as the number 5 restaurant in Canterbury on TripAdvisor so they must be good, eh?

They’re famous for their signature BBQ sauce and grilled chicken but there’s tons on the menu.

We go for their Double Breast Fillet with a side of corn on the cob and dumplings, with their sweet BBQ sauce on top of course!

If you fancy something good for an afternoon lunch, they offer a lunch time deal where you can make the most of ¼ chicken, two regular sides and a drink for £8.95 – how good is that? It’s on Monday-Friday 12-3pm.

Canterbury’s only authentic Japanese soul food restaurant, Tamago, must be somewhere you order from whilst living in the city centre.

Their tasty menu offers something different with small plates which are like tapas, where you pick a few and have a mixture of dishes.

Our order is a plate of Miso Soup, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Age Gyoza – mmm!

If that doesn’t sound like something you’d enjoy, order their Kimchi Ramen or their Teriyaki Tofu Don.

Their food is super flavourful, generously portioned and affordable so we urge you to give it a try if you’re looking for some foodie heaven for a weekend treat.

7. A La Turka

We told you this guide to Canterbury takeaways would feature something for everyone, didn’t we?

A La Turka has two restaurants in the city centre and takes influence in their dishes from the Turkish city of Gaziantep.

Their authentic menu is huuuge, they offer a breakfast menu, brunch menu, main menu and dessert menu.

So, no matter what meal you’re not wanting to cook, you can order from these guys.

When it comes to treating yourself to something yummy for dinner make sure to order their Chicken Shish.

It comes with chargrilled marinated chicken pieces, served on a bed of sliced pita bread, topped with yoghurt, special tomato sauce and drizzled with melted butter and served with rice or bulgur.

We don’t know about you, but we’re craving this!

Did somebody say JustEat? They sure did (we love this TikTok trend).

You can order from A La Turka on the app, or head to one of their two restaurants to collect your order.

Although, it is pricier compared to other Canterbury takeaways it’s worth it.

 

8. Pinocchio’s Restaurant

Picture this, you’ve just got in from a busy day at uni, you don’t want to stand in the kitchen cooking, and you’re craving some pasta, pizza or garlic bread.

Well, it’s only right to place an order from Pinocchio’s Restaurant!

This family run Italian restaurant has been a part of Canterbury’s food scene since 1987 so it’s certainly a notable place to try.

We live for their Pizza Calzone with ricotta cheese, spicy pepperoni salami, ham, tomato sauce and basil.

If that isn’t what you’re wanting, order their Pollo Mamma Mia which is chicken breast in ham, mushrooms and cream, served with Italian roast potatoes – mmm yummy!

9. Tacos Locos

Tacos Locos is the ultimate restaurant to order from for some tasty Mexican food in Canterbury.

Their extensive menu offers over 70 tapas and main course dishes from the likes of fajitas to Cajun sombrero mushrooms to pulled pork BBQ wraps to beef tacos.

So, we’re sure there’s something on there that will intrigue you.

They also offer some delicious tasting cocktails if you fancy a few drinks, like their Tequilla Sunrise or their Jungle Juice.

There’s even sangria, Iced teas and mocktails on the menu too.

10. The Gourmet Sausage & Burger Company

We had to finish off with The Gourmet Sausage & Burger Company as they’re the top dog on TripAdvisor, holding the place as Canterbury’s best voted takeaway.

You’ve definitely walked past this place whilst doing some shopping in the city centre as their located-on Canterbury Highstreet and have been for 13 years – wow.

Their menu offers a massive selection of German and English foot long sausages, beef burgers, chicken burgers and loaded fries.

Our go-to order is their Bratwurst German Footlong Hotdog with a portion of Cheesey Fries, it’s gotta be done!

You can place an order through Deliveroo or order through collection at their stand when you’ve finished in town and head back home to munch on your yummy scran (it saves on the delivery cost).
